The story of California’s first openly gay elected official, Harvey Milk. A San Francisco supervisor who was assassinated along with Mayor George Moscone by San Francisco Supervisor Dan White. It tells his life story from when he first moved to San Francisco, to the days he decided to run for public office and finally to his tragic death.
Penn does a great job of bringing Milk back to life. He helps the audience realize how much of good leader he was, not just for the gay community, but to all people that have been discriminated against. The movie lets you have a glimpse of his life which i found very interesting. The only downfall of the movie is that you want to learn more about Milk but the movie does not allow you to. Its a film worth checking out as a rental at best.
Verdict: Rent it
