DOUBT

doubt_teaser_movie_posterSet in 1964, Doubt centers itself around a nun who confronts a priest after suspecting him of sexually abusing a black student. Without a shard of proof, besides her moral certainty, Sister Aloysius (Streep) locks into a battle of wits with Father Flynn (Hoffman) which threatens to tear apart the small church community.

Doubt has a strong cast ,with Streep and Hoffman leading the way. Amy Adams does a great job of keeping up with her costars. Doubt is very well written and the drama in the film is very tense. The only problem with the film, which is very important, is the ending. The more you get into the plot the more you want to know what happens, only to be left hanging at the end. It is worth watching, but viewers beware of  not being satisfied with the finale.

Verdict: Rent It.

Milk

milk_movie_poster1The story of California’s first openly gay elected official, Harvey Milk. A San Francisco supervisor who was assassinated along with Mayor George Moscone by San Francisco Supervisor Dan White. It tells his life story from when he first moved to San Francisco, to the days he decided to run for public office and finally to his tragic death.

Penn does a great job of bringing Milk back to life. He helps the audience realize how much of good leader he was, not just for the gay community, but to all people that have been discriminated against. The movie lets you have a glimpse of his life which i found very interesting. The only downfall of the movie is that you want to learn more about Milk but the movie does not allow you to. Its a film worth checking out as a rental at best.

Verdict: Rent it

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

The Curious Case of Benjamin ButtonStarring: Brad Pitt, Cate Blanchett. Pitt plays the role of Benjamin Button, a man that is born 80-yrs old and as time passes, instead of aging, he grows younger. From learning to walk, traveling the world, being at war, and falling in love, the movie tells his life story from beginning to end.

The flow of the movie was good, but at over three hours long you feel that somethings could have been left out. Another problem I thought the movie had, was the ending. It seemed as though the writer did not have a good conclusion in mind. He just ended it with a conclusion he thought was good and left the audience hanging.

Besides those little mishaps the movie is well acted. Even the smaller roles in the film left their mark and most of the events in the movie kept you yearning for more. This is a film worth seeing in theaters.

Recomendation: See it in a theater
